Alptraum goes to a lot of effort to secretly lure Kaira to the crystal beach within the Spirit Dagger, where he surprises her by using his shadow cloak and other techniques to turn himself into a black dragon. All to just show her his appreciation.

Being a dragon, Kaira wonders if there's an ulterior motive, but finally accepts that their isn't one. Alptraum is doing it to pay her back for her help with Phlagaea.

Small talk turns to Melusine and her latest interaction with Alptraum, which of course makes Kaira suspicious and sets off the conspiracy-generating part of her mind. This leads to Alptraum feeling depressed, thinking that he's just a tool being used by everyone.

Kaira tries to bring him back around, and admits that she's actually his slave, if he ever were to give her a direct order. Alptraum promises he wouldn't, and considers her a friend and partner.
