Rory chooses the middle door this time and dreams again of the unicorns. This time they seems to be on Sinai somewhere and not in the strange land they inhabited before. A group of the unicorns go off to fight the small number of dragons that also followed with them, and slowly their numbers are whittled away to just one. That one unicorn ends up in the Valley of the Niton and tries to goad their 'mother' into fighting. When there is no responce he storms into the cave. Later the unicorn shows up, battered and bruised but still alive, and Silhouette has apparently been tending to him. The unicorn tries several more times to attack the creature in the cave, and each time Silhouette drags his battered form back to her castle and cares for him. Eventually the knight stops his attacks and instead tends Silhouette's castle. Much time goes by and he paitently works his gardens… then 'something' attacks him and the dream fades out… with only the sound of a crying woman to be heard, the crying slowly fades into chanting and the image reappears for a brief moment. Rory finds hinself lying on the ground, and one of the shapachanging canines grabs him and runs off with him. As Rory awakens he resolves himself to go to the cave and find out the meaning of these strange dreams
