Aisha, Tasha and Layth are surprised to find out that Calligenia and Aaron will not be joining them for dinner. Tyche explains that this is because she did not want them influencing the others. It becomes clear why as she starts asking each of them about their impressions of her daughter, Calligenia.

After everyone details what they perceive to be Calli's strengths and weaknesses, they come up with general advice to get around the trouble areas: namely, that Calli needs to depend more on local advisers and not try to manage everything on her own.

Tyche then takes questions herself after making sure her guests have everything they need. Layth asks about contact with the nomadic tribes beyond Dianus, but Tyche claims to have no dealings with them. Tasha asks about fitting in better, and the queen suggests that she keep a coney with her to make others comfortable. Feeling a bit homesick, Aisha just asks if there is any xocholatl.

Tyche also arranges to meet with each of the others in private to learn more about them.
