Immediately after Fadyr slays the black khatta, the Landsknechts and Jonas question on his motivations. Fadyr attempts to explain his vision, and is met with some skepticism. The guards are unsure what course of action to take, and even if they can arrest a Landsknecht. Gergesene suggests putting the matter before Ruthven, then leaves. Lord Ruthven is in his bedroom and is given a brief explanation of events. He is told of the Bosch connection, and becomes very thoughtful. He says he will speak to the magistrate on Fadyr's behalf, and approves the vigil in the Cathedral. Jonas returns to the keep to study with Devon (Jael) in the library, and Steinhardt goes with Fadyr to the Cathedral of precision. The murder weapon is shown to the priest, he experiences nothing strange with it, and promises to find out more about the weapon. Fadyr then spends a night in a private chapel, reflecting on his actions while Steinhardt observes him
