At the inn where the Cervani wagoneer dropped him off, Jynx has breakfast, and sees no sign of "Blossom's" whereabouts. He is paid a visit by a human who introduces himself as Commisar Brueggel, and asks Jynx to come along for questioning. A carriage ride later, Jynx arrives in Blitzheim, seat of power for all Chronotopia, and home to all sorts of tinkered devices that seem to defy all reason for what should be possible on the surface so close to a Forbidden Zone. The black Khatta is taken in for questioning about his confrontation with Blossom, and then put in a cell for the night. The next morning, he is released … but only after every last shekel of his has been taken as part of a fine.
