Technopriest Buran interrupts Investigator Kani's sleep as she tries to repair the Refiner of the Luminiscence of the Momentary Star. Buran manages to do her job without revealing any of the mysteries, and only briefly letting one of the uninitiated touch the Spiritual Multiplier. Kani, making smalltalk, questions her about her recent vacation in Chronotopia, and then offers to treat her to a hot drink from the cafeteria.
