Umeko takes Lilac to the local House of Comfort, The Blushed Pala, to have her made up as a proper-looking servant (and to downplay her otherwise exotic and recognizable features). This is a novel experience for the usually destitute bard.

A raucous group in one of the room they pass are known to Lilac – a group of mercenaries from the same airship she arrived on, which has no urge to become reacquainted with. Later, when the rough men try to take liberties with two of the house girls, Umeko intervenes.

A fight breaks out, as the drunken mercenaries try to take on Umeko. The Kiriga's training under Master Tooth pays off, and she is able to handle most of them. Still, she is outnumbered and would have been overwhelmed if Lilac, half panicked, hadn't suddenly transformed into a winged, black canine monster and taken out one of the mercenaries before running off herself.

Umeko's injuries are tended to by the staff afterwards.
