Kaela, back in the expedition camp after her exploration of the monastery, finds Haji and speaks with him privately about her latest dream and her latest discovery. Haji is convinced that there must be truth to these dreams, and gives Kaela comfort and advice regarding what to do. When Haji leaves, Kaela falls asleep, and finds herself having another dream-vision … though this time unmistakeably as herself, rather than as the ancient princess. In the jungle of the vision, she finds a hut, and therein the Princess Emerald-Eyes, now much older, Kaela's distant ancestor. Through the dream, the elder Emerald-Eyes speaks to Kaela and answers some of her questions, though there are strange quirks in the dream that hint at limitations about what she may respond to. As this vision ends, Kaela is given a parting gift to help compensate for the nightmares foisted upon her a dream-memory of a birthday before the fall of the Priest-King
