Rory performs a complex ritual for his final test, which is a test of "creative application" of his magical abilities. Afterward, the audience heads out, but Fyiara remains, and Rory questions her about whether there is an actual problem with Silhouette in the eyes of the College – Fyiara is somewhat uncertain on this topic.

During the course of discussion, Rory makes mention of the Guild Hall of Babel, and makes it evident that he is unaware of the fate that befell that campus with the dropping of the "Boomer" weapon. Fyiara is left with the task of breaking this news to Rory, and Rory is concerned for the welfare of his friends and acquaintances from Babel.

Fyiara takes Rory to the School of Mind, where she finds records of those presumed dead in the disaster. His Eeee friend Skiree is one of those listed. Rory responds emotionally to this revelation.
