Rory is tested for Journeyman status, first taking a theoretical exam. He is then put into the college gardens to capture a scrying golem known as a "Feep", in order to test his ability at mundane concepts of stealth. Thirdly, he is asked to perform the ritual of "Nightfall", despite various distractions and attempts to convince him to give up. At the end, he passes, but he still has another test remaining…
