When their somewhat subdued discussion of how much trouble they're getting into is interrupted by one of the keeps expressionless servants, Arkold, Alptraum and Tulani detain him and try to figure out what has been done, if anything, to the man.
Alptraum is unable to find any sort of possession or other magical control, and Tulani sees that he is (relatively) conscious and self-aware. Unsure of just what sort of brainwashing was done, they settle for following the man on his rounds.
After visiting Raven's room (where the girl is sleeping soundly) and the bathroom, the servant heads down the passage taken earlier by the dragon. Here they find more signs of a magical battle, including an area where the hallway was melted and entombed living people. Thinking this may have been the work of Phelix Kurai, Alptraum asks to see the enchanted map. Their deviation from the route is faintly visible, as is a symbol for the castle and some more markings that they can't make out in the dim light.
Following the servant deeper and deeper into the castle depths, they finally come upon the lair of Vorgulremik himself. The dragon is either asleep or in a trance, resting atop a sarcophagus marked with the symbol of Necropolis and surrounded by all of the scavenged metal in the region. As the trio decides to back out, the dragon turns towards Tulani and hisses without actually seeming to be aware of her presence.
On they way back to their rooms, the trio compare notes: all of them felt that the dragon was somehow less intimidating than he was at dinner. Back in the rooms, they take another look at the map, which shows the castle and the symbol for Necropolis surrounded by a box, as well as a skull and crossbones underneath.
Alptraum also notices something odd about the painting of a Savanite woman over the fireplace the spots are wrong. After using Tulani's head as a reference, the group decides the painting is of a Gigi, with spots added. Alptraum recalls his encounter with a dark Gigi priestess who had similar spots painted onto her fur who wanted to kill him.
