Leeta frets over recent events, and, with Tahir Archelaus' permission, sneaks out on an "errand", going to Arch Inquisitor Moffat's office and finding another slave – Chaser – there, going through his belongings. Leeta confers with Chaser and finds the latter to claim to be a slave of Bridge Officer Nimiss. Leeta tries to remember how to get into Moffat's safe, and manages to get the tumblers open, revealing a cache of wealth … and some papers. She takes the papers, not cooperating with Chaser, then has to flee the Guards as someone alerts them to her presence in the office. At last, she returns to Tahir's quarters, and begins going through the papers
