WolfSinger reaches Elamoore and receives some small payment from Shaki since he did good work in taking care of Alissabelle; he goes off to tour the Bazaar while Shaki checks with 'friends' about the whereabouts of Winnowei. His continued failure to understand the language proves something of a hindrance as he attempts to bargain with a seller of pastries. Two mysterious K'hu'ans assassinate a merchant Jupani, which he takes some exception to. Shaki returns to tell WolfSinger that Winnowei has escaped Elamoore confinement with the help of some brigands, and that he will continue to have friends check into it, and suggests that WolfSinger hook up with Big Jake for the meantime
