A few days pass with little change for the Landsknechts. News of the assassination attempt circulates, and improve Ruthven's chance of being elected Kaizer. Some letters arrive: the first is for Jonas, appointing him a Commissar to look into treasonous acts; the second is for Fadyr, granting him a conditional pardon with the details in a third letter, which seems lost. The Landsknechts, and Commissar Jonas visit Baron Phelan's estates in Blitzheim. The Baron is not very generous with words, or explanations. Buran arrives, and her appearance immediately suggestes Boschian connections, and her news that Salvatori is dead, is not well recieved either. Gergesene accuses Phelan of trying to use Jael and disrupt society. Phelan counters by releaving knowledge of a traitor among the Landsknechts who was searching for the heir, before Gergesene was involved. Steinhardt becomes pensive, and leaves as the others go to check on the Palace guard Shem. Steinhardt briefly re-appears with the third letter which has caught up with them. Gergesene reads it, but does not reveal the text, instead questionning Shem on Salvatori's dead. Fadyr speaks with Buran about Salvatori's wounds, and determines that the Korv may have survived had he recieved adequate treatment; Feskh is not guilty of murder, merely assault, and is offered exile by Commissar Jonas. Everyone then departs the Estate for either the palace or the keep
