Riding atop the coach that is taking them to Castle Draco, Alptraum and Mave have some privacy to discuss things. The two talk about Mave's feelings of anger towards the destruction of her way of life in Babel, and her worries about her own future.

Alptraum tells Mave that he needs a mentor in how to deal with the power the group now possesses in the Light of Nala, and Mave explains some of what she went through in becoming a priestess. She also agrees to help Alptraum get a better grip on things.

Mave shares her pipe with Alptraum, and the two talk a bit about their hopes and worries regarding the Countess Draco.
