Kia chats with Shingle, the Kavi junk merchant, and then goes to investigate what Enos – a jaguar cub helping out at the shop – has been up to. Enos has found the "walking stick" that came with the pieces of the blue "Khatta" automaton, and has found that some buttons on the stick cause it to change forms. Kia determines that one of the shapes is that of a giant turn-key … much like the one used to operate the Titanian music box at the Wooden Leg. She sticks it into the back of the feline automaton that she has been reassembling, and, with Enos' help, winds it up. The automaton comes to "life", and the key becomes the mechanical Khatta's tail.
