After a noisy train and car ride, Tasha and her group are brought to 'The Rectangle' in New Zion – home of the Expedition military command. They are treated politely and taken to a room underground where the Karnors are separated from them to be debriefed.

Soon, a woman arrives bearing tea and donuts, and explains that she's Mary Montague of Military Intelligence. She asks questions and hears the story of how of the Fenris was found and what happened with the artifacts, crew and MOTHER.

The Sinai group learns a bit more about the early days of the Expedition, including the locations of two crashed motherships on Sinai. It is decided that the artifacts and memory crystals will remain in their care until such time as they're ready to turn them over, since they may be needed to complete whatever Tasha hopes to attempt on Sheol.

The Vartan asks about joining the Expedition as well, which shocks the human officer, who explains that she's never heard of anyone doing so in the past and isn't sure of the procedure. Tasha hides her disappointment when Gabriel and the others return in good spirits.
