At Madame Sedgewick's Manor, the same day that Aaron Lightfoot discovered that the "Dragon's Egg" in the lady poodle's possession was a fake, Investigator Herschel arrives from the Temple, inquiring into the incident. An appraiser, Cor Dysforu, also arrives, and verifies the inauthencity of the artifact, and surmises that the handiwork of the fake is that of one Jason Candlegold of the Bazaar. Aaron comes up with an idea to take the fake to Candlegold, under the pretense of having a repair made, in order to discover whether the artisan is indeed the culprit.
