Alptraum sets out to learn how to fix the damaged heart. The first part of his quest leads through the Belly of the Beast, a reaper training ground. The case is full of nastiness, such as grave worms, a screaming pool, and dozens of rotting corpses. All in all, it was extremely disgusting. Alptraum made it though with only damage to his pride, thankfully.

Once past the cave he reaches the Throne of Bones. Azrael turns out to be … a demon in khatta form; some ancient spirit that possessed a greedy khatta in centuries past. The conversation is strange and somewhat informative as Alptraum does learn two things he must do before the heart can be cleaned. His attempts to learn more about Azrael himself turn out to lead nowhere … and even Kaira can determine little about him. Her demeanor towards Alptraum, though, annoys the bat, so she's dismissed quickly. The bat then excuses himself for the night.
