The celebrations on New Year's day continue into the evening, and Anisa wonders where Aaron has gotten off to. The next day, she finds that Aaron has been doing some dealing, and, in addition to some other bargains, is in the position of having to take an Amazonian Lapi along with him to Rephidim for business purposes. (The original plan, however, had been for him to take her as a wife, but it seems Aaron has talked his way out of that possibility.) Aaron, Anisa and their new traveling companion, Calligenia, start their trip back to more familiar types of civilization by boat from Dianus.
