In the Bazaar, at night, Fenter returns to find his hat … and chases it into an alleyway, prompting Arcadia to investigate, as Wyckyd and Lackey make their appearance, along with an "army" of vermites. Fenter attempts to foil Wyckyd's plot for world domination by drinking the contents of a bottle in Wyckyd's possession, but hands it back when it turns out to be a container of perfume. Wyckyd remains until he manages to get Fenter to "grovel" (due to a collision with a dragoness freaking out over the presence of so many vermites) and then takes off, leaving a bottle for Fenter. Arcadia tries to persuade Fenter NOT to drink the bottle's contents, and Fenter tells a bit about his odd relationship with the "arch villain" Wyckyd
