Willow spends the night at Castle Diamante as a guest, in the room of Nene Diamante – the sister of Prince Ral Diamante, who died some time ago. Willow examines the room and finds some dolls representing the royal families of Kroz … including a pair of rats identified as "Naochi". Willow rushes with these dolls to Mother Diamante, and finds out that, yes, on the eastern end of the country, there is a territory named Naochi, ruled by a family of the same name – the current ruler being Kiri Naochi. Before Kiri came four daughters, all of whom died on the same day they were born.

Willow tracks down Ral and Morning-Mist, finding them walking together, and prods Ral into admitting that he loves Morning-Mist. Then, they go to the castle library, where Willow does some more research. Her findings further enforce her suspicions that she might not be from Himar after all, and she makes an emotional outburst – It would appear that Tyrne Dagh has been lying to her. Willow then seeks out Testament-Blaze for advice.
