Tasha is wound up from recent events, and is feeling disconnected and out of place in Amazonia. Layth shares some of her anxiety his own position in his homeland is precarious at best and tries to relax the half-Vartan with a backrub.
As Tasha reviews the things she's gone through so far on the adventure, the initial romance of it all gives way to the reality behind it, and the young woman begins to feel worthless as if everything about her were only an act.
As the two talk, Tasha becomes convinced that she has to pull off the messenger of Abaddon role in order to redeem herself a bit. She also throws herself into Layth's arms, and the buck actually responds.
