Gathering up Amelia, Olivia and Morgan bring Miranda to Natasha's wagon to be checked over for any sort of magical contamination. Natasha inspects the wound, and detects an undead influence at work. Lili is called in to tell if the bite was made by a lapi or not, and she has Miranda bite a candle so that the impression can be compared the bite on her rear end. It matches up, meaning a lapi bit her.

While Amelia can't find a good reason for it, the consensus is that Clover Chalk took Miranda to be bitten by a vampire lapi – probably the legendary Buffy. But why she was left out in the baths for people to find is a mystery still, along with how she got there.

Parsley arrives with Axel, and more of the events of the dream where Miranda and Bravil saw Axel fuse with Nadyenka are revealed, along with why Axel looks so different. The bird-man is allowed to try and heal Miranda, and does a good if incomplete job.

The next step is bringing Miranda to be examined by the senior witch, Isolde, who know more about dealing with spirit-curses.
