Kaela seeks refuge in the garden at the Mikide Townhouse, trying to get some rest while getting out of the way of preparations underway for yet another party. Her nap is first disturbed by a gardener boy named Gart, who introduces himself as Kaela's contact to reach Jade-Eyes (Azhtar). Next, she's awakened by Jezebel – and the kit has a few things to say to her oldest sister. However, Jezebel reminds Kaela that to spread word of her secret could have unfortunate side-effects. After Jezebel leaves, Kaela goes to visit her mother, Abana, and worries that she isn't going to get well after all, despite the Naga oil
