Kensington is approached by a noble Saluki, Ternigan Troy Terano, Esquire, with a most unusual job prospect: He is to be hired to raid Ternigan's own ship, as a matter of entertainment for his party guests aboard his private yacht, the Lady's Glove. Kensington balks at this, but the promise of gold and the threat of running out of red ink on his ledger convinces him to take this act of "showmanship" seriously, and he accepts the job.
