Rory visits Jiri – a Niton (lizard) in Sunrise City – to purchase some supplies. While there, he learns that a letter arrived, addressed to Koshiro. He takes the letter back to Koshiro, along with a horgus eye – which glows when heated – as a gift for his mentor. Koshiro reads the letter, and finds that the College Esoterica is finally checking up on Rory, and is sending a scryer, Mage Canticle, to check on his progress. Later, Mage Canticle arrives, and Rory tells him all about his adventures on Lamu. Mage Canticle uses scrying magic and is actually able to detect the presence of Silhouette, verifying that she's not just a product of Rory's overactive imagination.
