Within the great hall of Castle Pieksvaldt, Umeko, Lilac, Anisa and Xander meet their dire host, Lady Pieksvaldt herself. A tall but painfully willowy woman, draped in finery and clinging shadow, her presence chills the room. The Raveness appears to recognize Lilac in some fashion, as does the Murder, but their recognition is more obvious; hanging within the hall is a great enchanted tapestry that seems to depict he current reigning lords of Castle Pieksvaldt and their host. Among all the Korvs is a single human figure: Lilac. How and why she came to be on the tapestry, no one seems to know. The inquires of the group are soon interrupted as the other 'guests' arrive, including Lord Vandringar himself, and an irate human man who attempts to assassinate the Lady of the castle. His attempted murder leaves him devoured by the Lady, her showing a timeless absence of mind, not even noticing she destroyed him. With this, the Seneschal urges Lady Pieksvaldt to retire for the eve, the remaining 'guests' departing and leaving the heroes, Lord Vandringar and Sir Greyswand of the Murder to puzzle things out themselves.
