Inquisitrix Turtle (along with Neekto) is shopping in the Crafter's Quarter when Kelsey mistakes her for Countess Ophelia. Fearing she has embarrased her boyfriends superior, the poodle quickly offers to help the Aeonian find anything she's looking for. Skrill overhears and decides to follow them to a dress store, and they all get worked into a picture being done by a Khatta street artist. Meanwhile, some Savanites are setting up a structure.
Fashionable Fabrics is run by Mistress Jallicou Goode, and highly reccommended by Kelsey. The Kujaku shows off various renditions of her previous creations, while Kelsey and Skrill browse the shop, the slave-model Pins stands forgotten in a black dress, and a foppish fox explodes out of a sewer opening. Turtle selects a sarong, to be made with a light pastel watercoloured zolk, while Kelsey's attention is caught by a firey ribbon dress.
Guards arrive and chase Savanites, and Skrill explains that they were doing some sort of demonstration, demanding rights similar to the ones granted in the Nagai Empire. A brief discussion follows, but as it is getting dark, everyone goes home as soon as a few book-keeping details are covered.
