Collegia Esoterica
Home to the finest magical teaching on Sinai, it sprawls over a expanse of land, sky, and underground. A mad mix of domes, towers, halls, theatres, and structures which can't quite be identified, it houses classrooms, libraries, laboratories, offices, and even some teachers' homes. Around it lies the Scholar's quarter, full of dormitories and apartments for students and teachers at the Collegia Esoterica, and the other trade schools.

Wynona walks around in her new apartment, past a wastebasket full of facial tissues. She basks in the glory of the new luxuries she can afford. For one thing, facial tissues rather than handkerchiefs … and … best of all … a WINDOW. She hasn't gotten curtains yet, but right now just stands at the window, basking in the sunlight it lets in, closing her eyes and smiling. She only sniffles once during her reverie.

There is the rushing of wind against wing, and a loud thump against the wall, beside the window directly below Wynona's. There's an accompanying "Ouch." Followed by a knocking on glass, and someone asking, "Wynona Windcaller?"

Wynona opens one eye, a look of annoyance crossing her face. "Hello?" she squeaks.

"Huh? Oh, up there." The strange Eeee calls out, flapping higher and hovering in front of the mage. He is dressed in bright clothes, and has a name on a badge on the left side of his chest, 'Reico'. The clothes seem a little loose, and the bat is also struggling with a satchel, trying to pull something out of it. "I was counting the ground floor as one."

"They should number the windows," Reico struggles and yanks out several brown envelopes. "It would save time."

"Uhm," replies Wynona. "Well, yes, that's an idea. I hadn't thought of it. I think the reason is that this building just wasn't designed by fliers."

"Yeh, I think it's agreat idea. No one listens." Reico keeps hovering and starts trying to read the envelopes, his control slips quite badly the second he looks down at the labels. He starts to wander in all directions, barely staying in front of the window. "It's here somewhere."

Wynona steps aside. "How about if you step in for a moment while you look for it? I'm sorry, but I haven't any tea brewed to offer you, right now … though I'm fixing another batch. It's SUPPOSED to help my nose." She sniffles.

"Here it is… AAh!" He looks up, just before smacking into the wall again. A hurried flap pulls him back and then he lands on the window ledge and hops in.

Wynona sighs, shaking her head. "Shall I look for bandages?"

"Oh no. I'm fine. Riding the edge, that's me." Reico makes a sweeping motion with his arm, the one holding the envelope. He looks at it one more time, "Hey, wow, you're a mage."

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I am," Wynona says proudly, her muzzle going up a couple of degrees. "In fact, I'm now an ALUMNUS of the Sphere of Air. That's why I get the window now."

"Neat!" The courier Eee grins, flipping the envelope over in a dramatic manner. It would have been dramatic, if he didn't fumble it, then drop all the other ones he was holding to catch it. He looks down, "Um… " and hands it over. Wynona's name is there, but more significantly is the seal of the College.

Wynona squeaks in alarm. "Hey!" She snatches at the envelope, trying to grab it.

Reico squeaks, jumping back in alarm. His satchel bumps the wall and a few more letters try to escape. "Ah!"

Wynona hmphs. Lightning-fast dexterity is not her forte. "Well … Just LOOK at this mess! Now, how long have you been at this job?"

"I just started." The courier protests, "but I'm going up, Zoom. Nobody flies like I do." He adjusts his uniform and tries to look impressive.

Wynona bites her lip, looking at the ceiling innocently.

"Now," Wynona squeaks, "Can I have my letter, please?"

Reico tentatively holds the letter out, trying to get as far away from it as possible. He pokes it at Wynona, "You're not going to jump me again are you?"

"JUMP you?" Wynona gives the courier an indignant look. "Now, listen here … " but she says nothing more, and just snatches the letter away, looking at it again.

The letter is quite thick, and seems to have something stiff inside that takes up most of the space. Its rather fortunate, as the 'Do Not Bend' seems to have been ignored if the damage around the edges is any indication of handling. The package seems intact, and their is a large seal of the College keeping it closed. Included beneath the sigil are the words, 'Office of Alumni Affairs'.

Reico crouches down and starts picking up all the other letters he dropped. He very carefully avoids getting too close to Wynona.

Wynona muses, reading the "Do Not Bend" out loud, as she peers over it, sending a glare in Reico's direction. "Hmph." She proceeds to break the seal, opening up the letter.

"So like… what did they send you?" He asks cheerily, searching for letters and managing to avoid the icy glare. "Seemed a waste of a flight you know. Almost close enough to walk."

Wynona hmphs. "Well, who was stopping you from walking?"

Inside, protected between a thick sheet of paper and a thin chitin plate, are Wynona's graduation papers. An intricate diploma, with fancy decorate borders and large ornate script saying, 'This document hereby confers all the rights and privileges pertinent to an Alumnus of the Sphere of the Air of the Collegia Esoterica upon Wynona Windcaller, a member in good standing of the Guild of Mages. In Witness whereof we have subscribed our names and affixed the seal of the Collegia.' The seal and signatures accompany the script. Along with the diploma are some smaller calling cards, that have a similar and more succinct message.

Wynona stands up straight and proud, smiling broadly at the sign of her achievement … after all these years! "I'll have to get a frame," she ponders out loud.

"Walk? I Gotta fly." Reico answers, stuffing letters into his satchel. "If I have to walk, I might as well be dead. Oh! You can get frames in town." He states the obvious.

Wynona nods absently, checking to see if there's anything else. "Well, thank you very much."

An Alumni discount card falls out of the envelope as Wynona checks it.

Wynona says, "OOOOO!" as she stoops down for the card. "I think I LIKE this!"

Reico jumps back up and out of the way. He doesn't lose any letters this time. "Hey!"

Wynona glowers at Reico. "You can go now, thank you. I think you are FAR too jumpy."

One last thing remains in the envelope, a small card with a pin attached. The card is blank, but the pin is stainless steel, suitable for wearing on a cloak. A Guild Alumnus pin.

Wynona tries the pin on, seeing how it looks against the sky blue of her blousy tunic (and matching cloudy trousers).

"Well I see why they didn't invite you to the party." Reico grumbles to himself, but not quietly enough that Wynona has any chance of ignoring it. "I just don't want to get zapped, you are a mage and all. So like, enjoy the package, and remember to use… umm… " He takes out a card.

"Hannan Deliveries, for all your quick courier needs!" Reico reads as proudly as he can.

"Party? What is this? Didn't invite me? You can SEE why?" Wynona glowers. "OOOOO! Why … you! Of all … the … I'm a MAGE! I … I deserve a little RESPECT, if you please."

"Eeeee! Don't hurt me!" Reico jumps back against the window frame.

"OUT OUT OUT!" Wynona squeaks, flapping her wings in a shoo gesture.

The courier slips and tumbles, his feet sliding on the floor in his haste to leave. He manages to grab the sill and heave himself outside. Both wings clip the frame and he drops suddenly from sight. "Ouch! Waaaaa! What a rush!" Reico can be seen swooping high into the sky after a close call with the ground.

Wynona pouts, muttering under her breath, without even thinking about it.

A very small dark cloud rumbles (quietly) into existence over Wynona's head, following along as she stalks through the apartment. "A party? A PARTY? And I wasn't invited? Why … OOO! And he just had to RUB it in. The nerve, getting all jittery around me, dropping everything, and then taking verbal swipes at me. Why … if he weren't an Eeee, I'd make him talk in a squeaky voice for that!"

As if to add insult to injury, the brown corner of an envelope can be seen poking out from under the bed. One that Reico must have missed.

Wynona looks down, then gets down on one knee to pick up the envelope. "Why! Of all the careless… "

This envelope is almost pristine, the edges undamaged. Aside from losing it, Reico seems to have been less careless with this letter than some others. There is no return address on it, or other identifying marks. It simply has a destination, some shipping company on the Rephidim docks.

Wynona frowns. "Oh, I can JUST see where this is going. WELL! I am not some second-rate courier, that I'm going to go around carrying letters. However … " She sets down the letter, puts her fingers together, and flexes them. "I COULD be a bit creative… "

The letter waits patiently for whatever fate Wynona has in store for it. The storm cloud above the mage simply stops following her, remaining at the centre of the room as she puts the letter down.

Wynona sits on the bed, pondering the difficulties involved in her plan. At last, she shrugs, and walks to the window with the letter. "Oh well." She shouts, "OH, REICO, YOU FORGOT ONE!" With that, she flings the envelope out the window, and turns around, walking back into her room, dusting her hands against each other. "That's that!"

The envelope flutters to the ground. The storm cloud lingers, remaining unusually long foran accidental cantrip. No new problem suddenly presents itself. Her graduation papers remain, a message more pleasant than the messenger.

Wynona proudly heads to the papers, putting them away in a trunk. "Just until I get a decent frame," she tells herself.
