The Setting is a meeting room in The Pit and Ale Inn, Hallalliee, Himar. Inside the closed room are 3 Jupani, and the Vartan Zoltan, The Jupani: Forannar, headman of the Boax Clan, and his advisors, Martaan and Breyelp, have just enticed the Vartan from the city of Rephidim with a mysterious Offer. Now the time comes to see if their money was well spent.

"I Understand" Forannar states in his thick accent, "That you have been known to take hazardous assignments before."

Zoltan seats himself before responding. "Is sometimes take, yes. Depend on how well I get paid… and how likely I to leave with price on my head."

Zoltan fondles the garnet in his pocket, idly.

The Jupani looks amongst themselves and growl together in their native tongue. "I understand. It is not likely that you shall come away with a price on your head. Before I make the proposition I need to ask you a question. Have you heard of the K'hu'an?"

Forannar has great difficulty pronouncing the name but somehow manages to get his muzzle to form the proper sounds

The hippogryph ponders for a moment, there are so many faces in Rephidim. Faces… oh yes! "K'hu'an… they ones what not show faces, yes? Dress in robes and veils."

Foranoor nods and looks to his advisors. "The K'hu'an have come to Lonjonnor. They seek our lands from the tower Karak which they hold in force."

Zoltan's ears perk forward. He continues to quietly listen.

The Leader fingers the knife in his belt. "Many K'hu'an have been coming to Karak, and coming into our lands. I have sent my hunters to watch them but they hide well and the countryside around Karak is out of our hold." He pauses to look at you. Which is why we have called upon Clansman Turroo to help us find you. We have an offer to make." He holds open a small bag full of Garnets, like the one given to you before. "If you are interested."

Zoltan thinks, . o O ( SHINY!! )

Zoltan blinks at the prize. "Well… hrr… " He composes himself a bit. "What is you offer?"

Zoltan has a hard time keeping his eyes on Foranoor and not keeping them glued to the bag.

The Chief stands and crosses his arms, "My clan wishes you to make flights over Karak, and the countryside. Look for camps, paths, and campsites of the K'hu'an and report them to us." He looks at you closely, "The work is dangerous. I have lost many hunters to these scoutings. It is my hope your observations from flight will allow you to avoid the same misfortunes."

"You need not harass, attack or aggravate the invaders unless it is your wish. Vartan have good eyes from height, like Jupani have good ears and noses. They should suffice for you to locate the camps and show us where they are on a map."

"I'll need supplies." the Vartan flatly states. "Camping gear, warm clothes, rations, and stones for sling if I gets in trouble." He pauses for a moment, lost in thought.

Zoltan says, "I fly best when at night, dark feathers help hide Zoltan… but I not see in dark very well either. will need white cloth if possible. Black feathers stand out in snow."

Zoltan thinks, . o O ( Should I have to land. I don't want it to be easy to get spotted. )

The Jupani chieftain looks to his advisors who nod. "We have your supplies. We offer you a hearth in the clan house for shelter if you wish."

Zoltan strokes his chin with a talon. "Is anything else? You just want flight over K'hu'an and report of what I sees?" His eyes narrow, "And is anything I should be wary of… besides K'hu'an?"

The chief nods. "We will need many flights. To know their movements." The Chief looks at his advisors. "Aside of poachers and brigands, no there is nothing else."

the chief looks at the bag. "Payment will be one stone a week until the K'hu'an are all known to us on Lonjonnor.

The black Vartan drums his talons on the table as he thinks. ( This definitely does not sound easy. But… but… for the shinies! ) He glances back upwards, "Alrights. I would also likes know all you know abouts K'hu'an. How they is ambush… what weapons use. I not like suprises any more than you."

Zoltan says, "and passage back to Rephidim, you pay for that too? I not want to fly back by self."

The chief looks at his advisors and they growl and yip together. "You have passage back in your hand already."

Zoltan hmmps… he was hoping to keep the pretty garnet. But they'll be more, from the sound of things.

Zoltan draws his knees up to his chest and folds his arms over them. "So when you needs me to start?"

The chief and his advisors relax noticeably. "We leave for Donnel in the morning. It Will take one day to reach the Clanhome."

Zoltan mumbles to himself in the Vartan tongue, > Great… more traveling. <

Zoltan nods to the chief, "You tell me more abouts K'hu'an during trip. Day sounds like just enough time."

The chief nods. I will tell you what I know." He looks pained. "What little that is.

"Is better than nothing. Least I have something to work with." Zoltan's tone is of acceptance, but his face seems weary.

( I pray to Dagh that they're not mages. ) The hippogryph thinks to himself, shuddering at the thought.

The chief and his advisors rise and move to stand by the Vartan. "Come lets drink to your success." They move to the door and open it. "I hear The Scarak Clan has a Torach competing at third turn."

Zoltan pulls himself back to his hooves, "Drink would be good. Is hope ale not watered down here like at home." he says. And then much quieter, in his own language, > I hope there's no bugs in it… yeeech. <

One of the Jupani wags his tail before catching himself and smiling. Ale I don't know." He says in a voice nearly clear of accent. "But there's Eker mead a plenty. And Kelher fungi."

> Where have I landed! < Zoltan sighs, musing quietly in Vartanspeak,> They eat bugs and drink mold. Well, perhaps the mead won't be too bad… <

The three Jupani pass into the hallway and the noise of the Bar floods into the room in a resounding roar. The Silverstipe Graker are making their final assault on the Red Dot Torach and both mounds Grakers are about to clash. A Kavi barmaid approaches the group and soon the Ale flows as the Jupani treat their new tenant to a feast fit for a king.
