Alptraum and Mortimer are summoned to solve a mystery in Mephisto Valley. Someone, or something had been devouring its famed vines. If it isn't stopped, why, their entire wine production is threatened! Ironically a Monster hunter, one Sister Toadstool, had already arrived. Alptraum and Mort go out to help her … only to discover she's a sarcastic young albino girl.

Still, they manage t work out a trap and set it. A problem arises, though, in that Alptraum discovers Sister Toadstool's magic affects him too, and draws out his darker instincts! With luck, though, the creature attacks and they manage to track it down. What it was, well … you just have to read!
