The Nohbakim (or "Nohbakims") comprise a species that defies easy classification,
dwelling primarily in the vast expanse of the Himaat Desert, purportedly
having the capitol of their dubious "nation" in the ruinous and
semi-legendary city of Noh. There is no "average Nohbakim". But, such as
it is, any given Nohbakim is comprised of a mish-mash of apparently random
features, different parts of his or her body covered by scales, feathers,
thick hide, shell, fur, or some more ingenious covering. These come in a
wide range of colors and patterns. It is often that the Nohbakim comes with
more or less than the normal number of limbs for humanoids, some of which
may be vestigal, but they tend toward four to six feet in height, and something
roughly approximating humanoid form or a mutation thereof.
It is widely accepted that there is a higher degree of mutation on the surface of Sinai than to be found in Rephidim, but the Nohbakim seem to be the greatest example of mutation of all, a collection of pieces that seem as if they've been taken from all manner of beasts known and unknown, and arranged to form a race of "chimeras". Of all the features combined in the Nohbakim, there seems to be a high incidence of fox-like features -- especially tails (and not necessarily just one per Nohbakim). This has, at times, led to some persons mistaking a mutated Zerda or Fox Exile as a Nohbakim.
The "native language" of Nohbakim is the same as that used by the Zerda. With the opening of the Gateway Tower and the forming of a town around this artificial "oasis", in recent years several Nohbakim have made increased contact with outsiders. Thus, "Gateway" Nohbakim are far more likely to have exposure to other cultures, and to know the more widely-used languages. Though the Nohbakim keep to themselves for the most part, they are still considered subjects of the Emir.
PC Requirements:
Otherwise, Nohbakim PCs have a very wide-ranging leeway in what sort of abilities (and disadvantages) might be yielded by their own unique combination of features.
There is a legend about the origin of the Nohbakim, but it would only be known to PCs with at least "Average" rating in the "Lore of Sinai" skill.
