Jupanis Karnors and Titanians
Jupanis, Karnors and Titanians

The term "Jupani" has come to be applied to all wolf-like humanoids to be found on Sinai, even though there are demonstrably several sub-types which are not genetically compatible with each other. The "race-language" of the "Jupani" is not necessarily used by all wolf-morphs.

Three major Jupani sub-types include:

Himarian Jupani: Digitigrade, lacking human-like head-hair, and more "feral" than the rest, these are found primarily in the wilderness areas of Himar. The "Jupani" language is their native tongue.

PC Requirements:

  • 1 pt Sharp Ears: can pick up whispers nearby
  • 1 pt Hunter's Smell: can track an hours-old trail

  • "City" Jupani ("Karnor"): Plantigrade, possessing human-like head hair, and, while often canine in attitude, a tad bit more "civilized" than their Himarian "kin", these can be found widely across Sinai, especially in Rephidim-dominated areas.

There is a "Karnor" race language that has long been considered a "dead" language, rarely used by "City" Jupani anymore -- let alone everyone else. They typically speak the tongue of whatever nation they live in -- most likely being Rephidim Standard. The term "Karnor", if used to apply to this group, was until recently a fairly obscure term, known generally only to scholars, of unknown origin and dubious utility. (i.e., it's the sort of thing someone with "Lore of Sinai" would know, and probably nobody else would care about.)

However, with the opening of Sinai to the Gateway Worlds, and contact with Abaddon, it has been discovered that there are wolf-morphs known as "Karnors" there, closely associated with the human-dominated organization known as the "Expedition". These "Karnors" are physically identical to "City" Jupani. The "race tongue" of Karnor to them is a fairly archaic language as well, but there's obviously some sort of connection. (Abaddonian Karnors, incidentally, knew nothing of the term "Jupani" before coming into contact with Sinai.)

    PC Requirements:

  • 1 pt Sharp Ears: can pick up whispers nearby
  • 1 pt Hunter's Smell: can track an hours-old trail

  • Titanians: Plantigrade, very large, with large "manes" that run from their foreheads down their backs, and "ruffs" on their lower legs and forearms. The term "Titanian" officially means anyone who lives in the region of Titania, though it is most often associated with the large wolf-types who hail from there. (Usually, when specifically referring to the wolf-like Titanians, they are simply called "Jupani". Just ... really big Jupani!)

Unlike other Jupani, Titanians typically have no "feral abilities" or heightened senses, though they are -- culturally -- barbaric enough that people expect them to be more feral than the "City Jupani". They are typically wary of magic, though they have a certain fascination with technology ... even though their own attempts at steam power so frequently blow up in their collective face. (They attribute this to the "gremlins" ... who they believe are less powerful on the sky islands because the gremlins can't jump high enough to bother machines as much there.)

Titanians are known for being rather violent in demeanor. In fact, while they tend to speak a roughened version of Rephidim Standard, their "native language" is Hammersong -- basically, a very violent version of Morse code.

    PC Requirements:

  • 2 pts Strength: strong, able to lift (but not throw about) normal people (200lbs)
  • 2 pts Resilient: not easily knocked unconscious
  • In addition, if the character is a Poison Canyon Titanian (from the east part of Titania), the following is a requirement:

  • 1 pts Resistant to Toxic Food/Water
  • Back to Section 2.1.11
