The Eeees (or the Eeee, or Eee, or other variations) are bat-like sapients,
having a largely humanoid form, save for a bat-like head, light fur on their
bodies, and a separate pair of bat-like wings sprouting from their backs.
With their large ears and high-pitched voices, they are able to use their
superior hearing as a form of "sonar", able to fly (and hunt prey) even in
pitch black darkness.
While most Eeee prey upon insects and/or eat fruit, there is a substrain of Eeee, either occuring as a mutation, or found as a separate "sub-race": the Vampires. Vampiric Eeee, contrary to many legends, are not undead, nor are they obliged to feed upon sapient beings, but they do need to feed upon blood, being unable to digest solid foods. These are typically referred to as "Sylvanian Eeee", since the largest concentration of this strain of Eeee can be found in (naturally) Sylvania.
Also, as a sub-species of the Eeee found in the Ashdod Territories on Ur, there are the fruit bats that hail from Saskanar. They tend to enjoy fruits over insects, more so than their other Eeee kin, but they are not a separate species per se. A not-uncommon genetic variation among Saskanar Eeee is that they have a single pair of wings with "claw-hands", rather than having separate arms and wing limbs. This variation is passed through generations, and has unknown origins, but these Eeee are still compatible with other Eeee, so these don't comprise a separate species. Eeee with this particular feature are often referred to as "Saskanars", even if they're not from the area. Especially given the recent split of Saskanar off from the Ashdod Territories, this term carries with it some degree of derision in Babelite society.
The Eeee share a "race-language" that, in full usage, relies upon high-pitched sounds, but it is possible for other races to learn and communicate in at least a restricted and formal fashion. The bulk of the Eeee on Sinai either hail from Ashdod on the continent of Ur, Rephidim, or else from Sylvania -- the latter harboring the bulk of the Vampires to be found on Sinai. Those from Ashdod, Saskanar, Zahirinee or Rephidim will most likely have Eeee ("Babelite") as their "race tongue", while Sylvanian is the more likely native language for those from Sylvania.
Of the sub-race of Vampires, mutations are found in greater frequency in their number (particularly amongst those born on the surface) than in the Eeee as a whole. A common mutation is to have glowing eyes -- typically red in color, though other colors are not unheard of.
