Aelfin are relatively short humanoids, standing about three to four feet
tall as adults, with child-like proportions. Their bodies are covered
with fine white fur, and their heads are slightly deer-like, though with
very short, rounded, abbreviated muzzles, and large, expressive eyes.
They each have four long, pointed ears, and very delicately-featured
hands.
They are primarily found in the region known as Aelfhem, located on the continent of Ur, south of the Ashdod Territories. This is a mountainous, forested region, and the Aelfin live in scattered villages. If there is anything resembling a "capitol", it would be the largest village of Winterhome, which contains a large clearing that serves as the closest thing to an "airport" in Aelfhem. Winterhome is administered by an elder known as the Winterhind. (Due to tradition, the Winterhind is never referred to by name, only by title.)
Little is known about this race insofar as general knowledge (and most of what is listed here would be unknown to the average outsider). What is known is that they are vegetarians, and, whether or not they have magical powers, what legends there are often ascribe spell-working to them.
For many years, up until about 6097 RTR, the Aelfin were secluded from the rest of the world, thanks to an ongoing feud with a nearby mountain-dwelling tribe of Eeee. The war ended at that point, and Aelfin slowly began to filter back into society to some limited extent, though for the most part they have kept to themselves. Before that point, there were very few Aelfin that somehow managed to make contact with the outside world in recent history.
Legends and lore suggest that, long ago, the Aelfin were highly regarded for their magical abilities, especially in the construction of enchanted items. If this is so, however, they seem to have lost the art as a whole, as magic is generally not practiced amongst these people, at least in the "real magic" sense. (Their tribe leaders still engage in a certain amount of mysticism, and they still have their particular superstitions and rituals.)
Though the monks charged with protecting the Sacred Grove of Winterhome are well-versed in their own form of the martial arts, the Aelfin tend to be a peaceful people. To deal with the outside world, they construct hot air balloons -- less dangerous to deal with than hydrogen-filled gasbags of airships, but relatively limited in range.
