Alice, Tom and Agatha pursue Mr. Cortlynn into the street. After some negotiation, they manage to persuade him to join in their little game, to have a challenge to the rules. They enlist Max and Sabrina to help reprise the roles of Pelles and Bragwaine to provide a neutral party to administer the tests.

They head over to Harcourt Manor (and Max has to overcome - for the moment - his fear of horses to get a ride over), and then discuss the matter of just how this is going to work. (Max heads inside to make a phone call - and Alice heads in to make a "call" of her own ... using the magic mirror to summon Sorceress Nymuae.)
