Outside Harcourt Manor, Tom, Alice and Agatha meet up, and discuss the matter of heading to Mirari, bringing each other up on their own discoveries: Alice and Agatha witnessing an apparition of Lord Melchizedek, and Tom meeting "Lady February" (his own grandmother). At Alice's request, Tom brings out the flute they found at the Siege of Stone and Water, and Alice writes out the melody that is to be played on it. She demonstrates how it is played ... and is rewarded as locks can be heard snapping open all through Harcourt Manor. Tom tries, and after some unsuccessful attempts ... manages to unfasten the harness holding a feed bag (to Agatha's chagrin).
