Alice speaks with Rachel on the deck of the Black Boat, wondering whether Ryan Jordan actually meant for the Rule of a Year as it turned out to be ... and whether other Rules might be made to fix Mirari's situation. But their musing is interrupted when Ryland the Raven arrives with a message: The Palace of All Seasons is under siege!
