The Thaumaturge's Study

Alice, Hannah and Nymuae continue on to the study of the court thaumaturge, where they are resisted by a gargoyle that comes out from the enchanted door that blocks the way. It will only let the thaumaturge or one of royal blood past, and so Alice proclaims her royal lineage -- though when she first tries to prove it by saying it three times, she is unable to. She realizes her mistake: she was referring to her father as King Richard, rather than King Marc. Embarrassed, she tries again, at Hannah's correction, and satisfies the gargoyle.

Inside the study, Nymuae works a spell on the Optikon, developing the image it has taken. Hannah and Alice join her to see the true face of Lord Eoin, the Destroyer.
