The Springs of Galon Annwn
(13 Jun 2002) Tom, Sir Lefallon, Rachel and Agatha continue their quest to Galon Annwn. |
They travel to a chapel carved into the rocks, and inside discover a Vyglari -- part scorpion, part man -- that guards the chapel against intruders, with evidence of many of its previous victims. Together, the heroes fight off the Vyglari, Agatha delivering the killing blow while charging on the back of Ahearn.
Thomas extinguishes a magically burning flame in the chapel, rightfully discerning that this is a focus of the curse. When he does so, a ghost manifests of a priest formerly charged with guarding the chapel in better days, and he tells the heroes of the fate of Galon Annwn, as it fell to the Black Robes, and he to the claws of the Vyglari. Agatha, having pity on the dead priest, promises to see that his bones receive proper burial. Thomas realizes that the only holy artifact they have that could end the curse is the Holy Grail. Sir Lefallon, at the urging of Rachel and Thomas, has the honor of presenting it, as he is its guardian.
When the Grail is placed on the shrine, the heroes go to the chapel doors at the ghost's urging, to witness what comes next: waters spring up once more, and the land is magically restored where they touch, with springtime flowers coming to life and blooming out of season. Galon Annwn is restored ... and Caer Sidi has hope again.
