Redmane finds herself in a battle of tooth and claw with an ancient evil, a shadow claiming to be the incarnation of everything dark in the world. She manages to drive it off with some help from her friends, then goes to confront the counsel of wolves.
A decision is made and Thomas and Redmane part ways; each taking a dangerous path.
