The Royal Siege
(23 Jan 2003) Angel and Redmane receive disturbing news from Kuon.

Princess Angel and Redmane rush to the court, where Angel (still insisting to be called "Jill" for the time being) helps with the wounded. They are reunited with Kuon, who has an instinct that forces of the Destroyer are going to Ainigton on some sort of a mission. The Queen is dubious of Kuon's instinct, as are others, but Angel and Redmane choose to trust in it, and seek the Queen's permission to use the Royal Siege to go back to Ainigton to thwart him. Queen Seraph at first forbids Angel to go, refusing to let her get in harm's way, but Lord November points out that there is plenty of harm already to be found here at the Palace of All Seasons, what with it being under siege.

Reluctantly, Queen Seraph gives Angel her blessing, but charges Redmane with protecting her. Redmane asks if Hannah would like to go along, but she declines.

At the Royal Siege, Redmane, Ahearn and Angel meet up with the sorceress Nymuae (formerly known as Rebecca), and Angel retrieves the hand-mirror of Angelique, learning more of its properties, and its ability to summon people and things from the other side. Angel chooses to take the mirror to Ainigton, where she might use it to defend against the Destroyer, and possibly to summon friends, rather than leaving it in Mirari, where she might use it as a means of escape.

So, the girls use the Royal Siege to pass back to the other side ... back to Ainigton.
