The Riddle Quest
(29 Aug 2001) Tom and Agatha follow a series of riddles that take them on a day's quest.
(Agatha) (The Trials of Anwynn) (Siege des Anges)
(Tom)
Tom and Agatha happen upon each other while in the woods near Danzwyck Stables, as Tom, climbing in one of his favorite trees, knocks an arrow with a message tied to it out of the tree -- and knocks a gold-painted wooden block onto Agatha's head. They find that the message has some sort of riddle, which they interpret to mean that they should go to Foxworthy's Sweets.

There, they find a bag waiting for Tom, this containing another block and another note. They find that the two blocks attach like puzzle pieces, and form what looks like a small wing. The next riddle leads them to another location, and then another, as they find more pieces, at last assembling a wooden "golden hawk" puzzle, and returning to the tree where they started to find a new note congratulating them on their success. Tom notices some odd marks in the ground, and supposes that their "secret admirer" is too light to be an adult, and might use a cane or perhaps have a peg leg.

They go over to Agatha's for dinner, as her father is grilling out back. A cat which was sitting on the porch quickly scampers off, and Agatha notices that there's something in the news box, even though they don't get a Saturday paper. She finds yet another scroll, this one apparently detailing yet another quest, this time just mentioning "Sir Redmane". Agatha and Tom decide to forego further investigation, however, to get some dinner instead.
