The Mews

Tom, Simon and Elinor travel to Mirari, aided by Lord December, where they visit the base of the Golden Hawks, a stable area known as the Mews. There, they are reunited with Minstrel Sam, and Tom has many questions for him. Tom learns that Hawksmoor Keep exists, far off to the west, though it has been neglected for some time. Tom decides to journey westward, first paying a visit to House November.

There, Tom finds that Lord November is just as suspicious and skeptical as he is, and Tom is challenged to prove that he is indeed Lord Explorer Thomas. Toward this end, he is given a quest: he must find Hannah, the daughter of Lord November. Hannah idolizes the Golden Hawks, and has gone westward in search of them at Hawskmoor Keep. This happens to be where Tom is headed anyway, so he agrees to embark upon this quest.
