Log Entries: Pelles of Caer Bannuac : Synopsis

Tuesday (15 Sep 2001) Tom has a visitor while he's working in his back yard.

Tom works in the back yard of his house, assembling components that will be taken out to be put together as part of his tree house in the woods, while his mother does chores about the house. He is briefly disturbed by the appearance of Bragwaine the cat, who then disappears. A little while later, the door bell rings, and Tom's mother answers. She lets Tom know that he has a visitor: Sabrina Winters (the same girl who claimed to be "Bragwaine" earlier in the woods). Tom cleans up, and then goes to meet Sabrina, and finds out that she was hoping Tom could show her around town, since she has heard that he knows where all the "neat places are". Tom's mother warns him that his father should be coming home in an hour or so, but Tom requests that his mother pass on the word that he'd like to delay moving the tree house parts until after supper, so he can give Sabrina a tour. Tom's mom agrees to this, and Tom then takes off, Sabrina in tow, headed for Eve's Ford.

Along the way, Tom finds himself doubting his earlier impressions of "Bragwaine", and he asks Sabrina several questions, as well as fielding them. Eventually, they reach Eve's Ford, but there is someone there -- Maximillan Winters, Sabrina's older brother. Thomas falls into role, playing the part of Lord Explorer Thomas, and Maximillan and Sabrina follow suit, taking up the roles of the mysterious Pelles of Caer Bannuac, and Bragwaine (his "Familiar"). They discuss a number of things, until the arrival of Mr. Winters in the family station wagon spoils the mood. He gives the kids a ride home -- including Tom -- and Tom has time to mull over the day's odd events while riding in the car.
