Mystery In The Snow
Summoned to House December, Redmane agrees to look into the disappearances of winter people
(Legends of Mirari) (Redmane)
()
Called to the House of December, Redmane meets with Lord Eclisair. The Lord tells her of how his people have been going missing under unusual circumstances, and suggests that the Knight's non-fey background will give her an edge in finding out the cause, if she's willing to help. Redmane agrees, even though the Lord of December seems to be holding something back.

She's shown to a room in the castle, and the attendant, Drift, asks if she is named Muirenn. When Redmane admits such, she is handed a letter that was left for her. Once alone, the knight reads what appears to be a warning from Thomas not to trust anyone, which she then burns after reading. The information left for her by the Lord includes a map of the area of the abductions and other notes. It becomes clear that only able, healthy adults are being taken, and all without signs of struggle.

In the morning, Redmane leaves for the town of Lunafell, the center of the abductions, and arrives a few days later. She meets the Headman, who explains that people are only taken at dusk, but children and the elderly are not touched. Redmane goes to the inn, where she finds a page from Thomas' notebook that indicates he's close on the trail of the perpetrators, although she's been told he vanished nearly a week before.

Deciding to confront the mystery head on, Redmane seeks the help of the Innkeeper after hearing her tell some of the old legends of the land. With the old woman's help, the knight is made up to look like a dark-haired, pale-skinned woman of October before she heads out into the night.

In the dark forest, she sees things out of the corners of her eyes, and hears the sounds of breaking branches. She calls out, and a voice replies offering her shelter if she can hurry, since the beasts of the woods are on the hunt. Redmane tries to keep up, but is thwarted by falls of snow from the trees and sees something leaping overhead. The figure drops down and takes on the form of a wolf.

After a brief bit of testing and dodging, Redmane determines that the creature is only trying to drive her off. The knight plants her sword and demands to speak with the wolf, who unsurprisingly turns into a somewhat feral woman.
