Island of Crows, Part III
(15 Aug 2001) The Mirari gang returns to the real world.
(Agatha) (Alice) (Elinor) (Simon)
(The Key) (Tom)
The group returns from their "voyage", as the fantasy play-acting gives way to grim reality as the owner of the boat is angry when he finds a burn mark under one of the seats. Elinor is still dumbfounded by the whole experience, Alice insists that it was magic, while Thomas struggles to find a rational explanation to tell the grown-ups so they won't all get in trouble for something they didn't do. There is a brief confrontation between Thomas and Alice, as Alice complains that Thomas never believes her, but Elinor plays peacemaker. Thomas suggests that this should be his last "fantasy adventure", claiming that their adventures lately seem to only come to disaster, but Elinor persuades him to reconsider.

Thomas's father arrives, and accepts his explanation that it was an accident, perhaps caused by a soda bottle left out too long in the sun on a stack of napkins, though he nonetheless tells Thomas that he'll be confined to his room for the evening, since he was still late for supper, even if the fire is explained.

The parents of the other kids arrive to take away their charges (Simon hitching a ride with Agatha's dad, and Elinor going with Rebecca's parents).
