Lord October, Lord April, Queen Seraph, Melchizedek, Sorceress Nymuae, Hannah, Lord Explorer Thomas and Princess Angel (still presenting herself as "Lady Jill" despite frequent slips that hint at her true relationship to Lord April and Queen Seraph) meet in the Queen's audience room, while Rachel and Sir Lefallon whisper in the background. Thomas shares what he knows, and they discuss the matter of the succession of the king, the siege on the Palace, the nature of the Destroyer, and whether the Rules may be changed.
