Golden Hawk, Black Raven
(5 Jul 2001) The "Golden Hawks" explore the cavern in search of Princess Angel's earrings.

(The Key) (Tom)
Tom, Agatha, Rebecca, Alice and Simon head to the "secret" cave on the side of One-Eye's Hill, playing the parts of the "Golden Hawks" -- adventuresome explorers. They make their way into the cave, and find a cavern with a triangular pool and several streams running off from it, strangely corresponding in layout to the shape of the Siege des Anges. Their adventure is briefly interrupted when Simon slips and falls into the pool, and Tom goes in and pulls him out. While they wring out wet clothes, they discover a raven with a hoard of "treasure" (junk) in the cave. The raven is able to caw out words, occasionally repeating things the kids say ... and occasionally saying things that sound quite lucid and suggest an intelligence far beyond what a mere bird should have. If the bird is to be believed, it is named Ryland of Avarre, and the cavern is the "Siege of Stone and Water", and the treasure here was accumulated by the shadow creatures, also known as the jruuh. The raven eventually flies off, disappearing into the shadows (though Rebecca insists that it simply vanished), and the "Golden Hawks" decide to call an end to their adventure, though "Princess Angel" is still minus her earrings.
